Location, Location, Location
First we must talk about location because this location is hands down one of the best streets to be on in Mérida. Calle 53 is quiet and centrally located. The Library House is directly across from the Mérida English Library, hence the name. The library has lots of great events and house tours on Tuesdays.
The Library is handy for getting taxis and Ubers when you can just type in Mérida English Library.
A few blocks in one direction is the Santiago market, my favorite morning walk. A few blocks in the other direction and you are at Santa Lucía square. A few more blocks and you are at Paseo De Montejo and the start of the new gastronomic corridor and the La Plancha Park expansion!
Where do I stay when I am in Mérida? Right here! I built the kind of retreat that refreshes my soul and recharges my spirit.

Comfortable Right Away
First time in Merida and we were glad to have Amy’s casa as a home base. The kitchen is well stocked and is great to cook in. The pool and outdoor area is private and refreshing. The bed is comfortable and the bathroom is nice as well. It was wonderful to have a washing machine on site to keep clothes clean. The street is quiet as described and feels very safe, yet is so close to many walkable businesses. Her welcome book is also helpful and we took some of her recommendations for eating and stuff to do. Amy is a great host with a comfortable home, you will enjoy your stay. Santiago market is a must visit! -Alex

One of the best AirBnBs ever. Right in the thick of Mèrida Centro. Amy has great tastes and this place really makes you feel at home. Even the English Library is across the street. The street is super quiet and the parking is easy if you rented a car to check out the area. Amazing places to eat/drink down just a few blocks away. The backyard is super private with a larger than average plunge pool and outdoor shower. There were three frickin A/Cs with remotes than easily took care of the Merida heat. She gets water delivery and there is a giant jug next to the sink, gratis. Pro-tip, for a very fancy experience, check out Huniik, a tasting menu spot a short walk away. Otherwise, day trips from here were great to Uxmal and cenotes south of Merida. This was one of those spots that you could imagine living rather easily. 5/5

Amy’s place is marvelous!!! We did not want to leave. The house has lovely decor, and the patio and pool are welcoming and peaceful. The sofa, recliner and bed are wonderfully comfortable. The internet was fast and the coffee Amy left for us was delicious. This is everything we could ask for in a place to stay. If we are ever back in this area I will 100% try to stay here again 🙂
From the moment we walked in we knew we were gonna love staying here! The architecture and decor are just awesome. Love the small private courtyard and pool. The location is perfect in that it’s walkable to most everything interesting, but on a quieter street. Amy also gave us a good tip on a taxi driver, Pedro, who took care of us for transportation. I definitely would seek another opportunity to stay in the future, if we come back to Merida!
We had a wonderful stay at Amy’s place! It was on a quiet street a short walk from great shops and restaurants. It was super easy to access everything Mérida has to offer. The plunge pool was also welcome relief on hot days!
We loved our stay in Amy’s place. The apartment is stylish and cozy. The interior decoration and setup gives it a local flair, including some cool artwork! The kitchen is one of the best equipped AirBnB kitchens I’ve ever stayed at. We cooked at home a lot (we love the neighborhood market!) and we had everything we needed, and more! The place is clean and we really enjoyed our morning coffee and evening beers on the patio/courtyard. The location couldn’t be better – easy walks to everything you want to see and do in Merida. We would rent this place again without hesitation!
